Due to fog, the team had to travel by bus to Seattle for an 11:30 m. flight. It wasn't till five hours later the team managed to get a flight out In between the final destination, OSU was stranded in St Louis for three hours due to the weather situation.

Finally arriving in Omaha Saturday, the Beavers slept instead of having a workout. The only previous time the two teams had ever faced each other was two years ago in Gill Coliseum. Creighton hit its first 18 field goals and won 90-68. OSU had won six of eight games from Wyoming in the series, including a 79- win at home last year. Julius Allen and Dwayne Allen had their fourth fouls and OSC Coach Ralph Miller had to go back to his bench. Creighton stretched a 39-38 lead to 4942.

Stoutt scored his final basket with nine minutes left to bring OSU to within 49-44. The Beavers never got closer after that. Oregon State was 0-for-l from the fool line in the first half and finished l-for-9 The only free throw made by the Beavers didn't come until the final few minutes of the game. Creighton wound up 25 of 37 from the line.

OSU committed 31 personal fouls to 20 for the Bluejays, and while Creighton shot 22 of 44 from the floor, the Beavers were a miserable 27 for 70. Stoutt. shooting 10 of 17, was the only Beaver to make better than 50 percent of his shots. Without his shooting. OSU was 17 of 53, Scoring but six points in the first 7 OMAHA.

The Portland Trail Blazers ran their offense better than they have all year and ran up their highest point total of the season in a 127-105 victory over the Houston Rockets Saturday night. The Rockets were just the opposite in execution as they depended upon whomever had the hot hand to keep them in the game. Mike Newlin ran off seven straight points in the first quarter as Houston built a seven-point lead. He ran off five more in a row in the final period to finish with 19 but only five of them came in the crucial second and third .31 J-S 34 11 14 04 ,16 71 34 04 04 .73 Irl 4-7 .11 04 04 ..1 04 04 1 04 04 TOO 77-44 7S-37 i 44 13 30 7 10 Convenient Customer Parking in bock of OREGON STATE .....14 71-58 3 J- 3 iv CREIGHTON 2027 NW Monroe 753-9652 Team rebounds Oregon State Creighton 5.

Calvin Murphy rattled off 16 points in the third quarter as the Rockets closed to within srx but then the Blazers, still patiently running theiroffense, pulled away. "If I wanted to score 30 points," said Murphy, "I could, but this isn't a one-on-one game. We have things we're supposed to run and we didn't run them." Murphy said the lack of execution on offense is the reason the talented Rockets are struggling. The loss to the Blazers put them below .500 for first time this season. "Our offense is hurting our defense," Murphy said.

"We don't need anybody scoring a ton of points. We gotta start winning some games." Maurice Lucas scored a ton of points a season-high 33 i i -i A v. He knows something about offensive ex-. ecution as he is the 16th leading scorer in NBA history. "We stayed in our offense better," Ramsay said.

"There are a lot of reasons for it. It's something we talk about a lot." One of the reasons for it was that the Blazers had scored less than 100 points in each of their last four outings and not coincidentally lost all four. Tom Owens had 29 points and Portland had one streak scorer of its own T.R. Dunn who canned 11 in the second quarter to put the Blazers in the lead for good.
