and Chicago. She expects to return in August. Nicholas Tartar, E. B. Beaty and Misses Alice, Belle and Bertha Edwards were passengers on the Shasta Limited last night for Berkeley where they will attend summer school at the University of California.

Mr. and Mrs. Lyle W. Hendricks and little daughter have gone to Mc-Minnville to spend the summer with relatives In that vicinity Mr. Hen dricks is an Instructor In the pharmaceutical department at O.

A. C. and a recent graduate of that ins 1 1 tutlon. Miss Catherine Asbahr, who had been spending the past two weeks at the country home of Mr, and Mrs. Harry Asbahr, left this morning for her home at Beaverton Miss Asbahr if an O.

A. C. student, and will return next Fall and resume her studies at the college. Russell D. Calkins, a son of Mr.

and Mrs. W. W. Calklna, former Corvalllslles, narrowly escaped being drowned at Ann Arbor, Michigan, yesterday, when a canoe upset In the Huron river. Mr.

Calkins Is' a freshman in the law college of the University of Michigan. Misses Margaret and Minette Hanson, Helen and Julia McFadden, Evelyn, and Veda Carlson and Mary Skelton compose a merry party bound for the summit of Mou-l Chlntlmlnl. Eugene Register: Miss Laura Hammer, who graduated Wednesday from the University of Oregon, has been elected to a position in mathe matics In the Corvallis high school. Miss Hammer graduated from Pacific College, Newberg, and had successful teaching experience before entering the University. Mrs.

Kittle O. Turner left last evening for Pendleton in response to a telegram bringing the sad news of the death of ber daughter, Mrs Ear! Wlgglesworth, whlcfe occurred yesterday at the Pendleton hospital following a recent operation. Numerous Corvslllsitee who recently resided In the Grande Ronde valley will remember Mrs. Wlgglesworth, and will receive tbe news of her ds mlse with deep regret. Mrs.

Turner has the sympathy of Corvallis friends la her sodden bereavement. Mr. and Mrs. Merton, F. Clark, of Walla Walla, arrived here this morning from Newport, where they bad spent a brief honeymoon, and will be auests of Mr.

Clark's relatives, Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Beck, with and family, several Mr and Mrs.

Clark were married In Walla Walla Monday, June 15, tbe bride being Mlse Mary Louise Me- Cracken, popular young lady of that city. Following a wedding trip through Oregon, Mr. and Mrs. Clark wilt he at home to friends after July 1st In Walla Walla. Mr.
