The fact that he chose to visit rela tives in the country rather than take the excursion trip with his fellow employes on the Eastland is prob ably responsible for his being alive and able to visit his relatives here. Speaking of conditions prevailing following the catastrohe, Mr. Wltzig stated that the employes who were still on duty were not able to get down to work for more than a week. George Washington Denman, ex- munlclpal Judge, returned last night from an eighteen day hunt In the At- sea country. The Illustrious ex- county school superintendent says he killed a two-point buck and brought It home with him, head, horns, hide and all.

When asked' why he didn't bring more than one buck with him be expressed surprise that such a question should be asked of an old and experienced hunter 'who had been out only eighteen days. The easterners have visited New Mexico, the two Cali fornia fairs, snd enroute home will top at Lewiston, Idaho, to visit rela tives there. They have made sev eral trips to Oregon in recent years and say they learn to lore the big state more each time they come.

At a quiet wedding performed at high noon today at the home of the bride's cousins, Mr. aud Mrs. Edward Hatch, Miss Hattle E. Hatch was united in marriage to John L. Run ners, of Downer's Grove, Illinois.

Only the immediate relatives were present. For the past two years Miss Hatch has made her home in the west, where she has been engaged as a primary supervisor. After a trip to the San Francisco and San Diego expositions, Mr. and Mrs. Reunners wtl go to Illinois and will reside at Downer's Grove, where the groom Is well and favorably known.

Mr. and Mrs. G. E. White, who had been visiting at the home of Mr.

and Mrs. J. A. Hooper the past week or so, left this morning for their home in Amboy, Wsshlngton. The Whites sr traveling by auto, and are en route borne from an extended trip through California.

The visited the two expositions snd pointi'of Inter est la thst state, and traveled through California. They visited. the Oregon. Mrs. White is a sister ot Mrs.

Hooper. Mrs. Ball, mother of the two ladles, who had spent the summer months with Mr. and Mrs. Hooper, Is accompanying Mr? and White on the return to Amboy, her present home.

Rev. Edwin T. Sherman, pastor of the Congregational church, -returned last night from a trip through Cali fornia. In company with Rev. H.

Edwards, of Oregon City, Rev Sherman visited the San Francisco fair, spending eight dss at the exposition. was the guest of Mrs Sherman's parents. Dr. and Mrs Freemen, st Los Angeles, several weeks, snd visited thirty different churches In California, examining the buildings for their good points with a view of bettering the plans for the new church which will be built in Corvallis. Rev.

Sherman filled the pulpit In the Pilgrim church at Los Angel last Sunday morning and evening, and the week before spoke la the First church at Pasadena.
