Jones of Philomath was injured in the collision of a stock truck and a logging truck yesterday about three miles south of Philomath on the Beaver Creek road. It was not known whether the animal could be saved. Deputy Sheriff Milo Askay reported the two trucks collided on a narrow section of the road where brush obscured the vision of both drivers.

Jones was driving one' truck involved and Curtj.s H. Peterson, Corvallis, was operating the logging truck; which belonged to the Zeller Lumber company, Peterson was cited -into justice court because his truck did not possess a permit for haulinu logs over a county road. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Locke spent the 4th of July at Scio at the home of a schoolmate of Mr. Locke's, Carl Woods, formerly of Kansas. Billy Knuth left recently with the Frank Estes family for Nebraska, where they will start, their grain harvesting.

Mr. Estes purchased a combine, here and took it back to Nebraska on a truck. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Ouislev and daughter Doris are leaving soon for a visit in Minnesota.

Mr. Quig-ley plans to go on to De Moines, Iowa to take his medical examina tion. He is studying to be a chiropractor. Mr. and Mrs.

RavmnnH TVs Ire and children, Nancy and Keith have gone to Heppner to visit relatives. They plan to visit a few days also at Tygh Valley where Mrs. Drake's sister, Grace lives. During their absence Mr. and Mrs.

Parmenter are keeping house for Russell. Nellie Melloy of Newport spent the week end at rthe Charlie Thompson home. Mrs. Thompson Is suffering from an attack of lumbago and has been quite ill. Dick Park is reported, sick with the measles.
